We were heading to Wyndham through this way rather than the normal tracks or road. A couple had stopped at the river crossing and we invited them to join us (adventure!) “just follow us”, but they seemed too scared (why would you stick to the normal tracks?) They were too scared to follow so we crossed the river and headed back out into the bush on our own. They would have freaked out. Getting towards the end of this dry lake, the various tyre tracks just disappeared!! So we were running up and down trying find and get thru a bit of bush, back onto this track. Lucky they didn’t come, they would have been freaking out. We knew the track was there only a few meters somewhere, just couldn’t see it. hahaha Frankie had put together an old GPS and iPAQ device, etc to create a moving map system for us. This was before GPSs and moving maps were available as we know today. This dry lake is probably where Baz Luhman filmed the bit where Nicole Kidman headed into the never never place in the movie “Australia”.
